- What happens if the exact piece in the photo has already sold?
- You won't be turned away. Every Wave Shop garment is 1-of-1 — hand-painted, signed, and numbered as a single piece. If the original has sold, the artist will hand-paint a brand-new version for you, matched to the original at roughly 95% fidelity. Because each piece is painted by hand in a single uninterrupted session, no two are ever truly identical — your version will carry the same composition, palette, and spirit, with the natural variation that makes it unmistakably its own 1-of-1.
- What does 1-of-1 actually mean at Wave Shop?
- Every Wave Shop garment is a singular piece. It is hand-painted once, signed, numbered 1/1, and listed once. When it sells, the page closes permanently. We never reproduce, restock, or release a 'similar' version. The world owns one — and only one.
- How are Wave Shop garments made?
- Each piece begins as a high-grade blank (Japanese loopback cotton, pima jersey, or selvedge twill). The artist hand-paints the garment in a single uninterrupted session lasting 9 to 14 hours, using artisan-grade water-based acrylics. The paint is then heat-cured for 24 hours and pre-washed once to fix the artwork.
- What materials does Wave Shop use?
- We work exclusively with premium, garment-dyed natural fibers: 480gsm Japanese loopback cotton for hoodies, 240gsm pima cotton for tees, and 14oz Japanese selvedge twill for trousers. Hardware is YKK metal. Paint is artisan water-based acrylic, sealed for longevity.
- How do I care for my 1-of-1 Wave Shop item?
- Hand-wash cold and inside-out with a pH-neutral soap. Lay flat to dry in shade — never tumble dry. Steam from the inside; never iron the painted surface. Store folded in the included acid-free tissue. Each piece includes lifetime restoration on hand-painted areas.
- When are new Wave Shop drops released?
- We release new 1-of-1 pieces irregularly — typically every 2 to 4 weeks — as each garment is hand-painted and we will not rush the process. Subscribe via the contact page or follow @waveshop on Instagram for advance notice; waitlist members receive a 24-hour private preview before each public drop.
- How is each piece authenticated?
- Every Wave Shop garment ships with a hand-written, signed certificate of provenance bearing the piece's number, altar date, materials, and the artist's signature. Hidden inside the garment is a hand-stitched gold-leaf interior tag. We maintain a private registry of every piece sold.
- Do you ship worldwide?
- Yes. Every piece ships internationally from Los Angeles in acid-free archival packaging via fully insured express courier. International duties and taxes may apply at delivery and are the buyer's responsibility.
- What is your return policy on 1-of-1 pieces?
- Because each piece is unique and hand-painted to order specifications, all sales are final. We will of course replace or restore any garment that arrives damaged in transit, and our lifetime restoration program covers ongoing care of the hand-painted surfaces.
